• Server Upgrade: What to expect...

  Sometime this week, the server upgrade will take place. I will try to give as much notice in the forums as I can, but my time this week is limited. In order to backup the database, the server will have to be brought down while the backup is being done. I will post in the forums and give you vague time frames when you can expect the server to be back up.
  
  From the time the server is brought down, until the switch is complete, anything made in the world, McMMO experience gained, and any money or items earned will not be carried over. What this means, is if we decide to being the server back up after the backup, but before the new server is ready, it will just be for your entertainment.

• State of the Server: 04-21-2012

  It's been a while since I've posted one of these, again, and you guys deserve to get an update now and then. I've tried to keep up with posting announcements when necessary. The last month and the next few months have been and will be exciting times for Shattered Serenity.
  
  The Past
  • McMMO! - McMMO was added, and provided our players with new skills and abilities to enhance their experience.
    
  • New donator tiers! - Tiers 7 through 10 were created to give extra perks to our higher level donators.
    
  • Falsebook! - Falsebook allows certain tiers of donators to place doors, gates, bridges and integrated circuits.
    
  • Hats! - Hats were added as a fun perk for all players. Type /hat with a block in your hand to wear it on your head.
  The Future
  • A shiny new dedicated server has been ordered! (Xeon E3-1270, 32GB RAM, 160GB SSD) We anticipate that the server will be installed within the next week, and the migration will take place the first week of May. I will attempt to do the migration at a time where the player count is low to minimize the impact on the players. The migration should only take a couple hours. We will keep you updated, and we will post announcements on when and how long the migration will be. The new server will allow us to utilize hardware that is ours alone and not shared with anybody. The goal is to reduce lag and increase service to our players. We thank our current donators for allowing this to happen, and encourage players to donate to keep the server up and running.
    
  • There are exciting new things in store for Shattered Serenity. The admins and staff are hard at work building, creating and designing things to make your time here more fun. Examples include build-offs, PvP events, and fun activities like puzzles.
  The Caveat
  • We are still suffering from some broken plugins. MagicCarpet, causes the server to lag horribly and had to be disabled. Hopefully the amount of CPU time it requires will be reduced in the future. There are still some problems with McMMO that are being ironed out, namely exceptions that are being thrown with regard to the database. I have been in contact with the McMMO dev and we are working on a fix. Some of you are experiencing problems with /tpa. This is a result of the new permissions groups added with McMMO. What I believe is happening is that the teleport plugin is not checking both of the permissions groups that a player belongs to, and is only checking the first one it sees (which is picked randomly). This results in the player not being able to access that command. I am working with that dev also to get a resolution.
  Like I said, these are exciting times and we gain more and more players each day. It is important that you visit the three sites below and vote every day. Voting gives you gems, but it also does something more important. It gets our name out there, and increases the number of players we have here.

  Ok everyone if you vote on minestatus daily you get 50 gems. Well I have another site for you to vote on and you can get 50 gems from it as well. So that makes it so you can get $100 gems daily just for voting for our server! What an easy way to make some gems!!

• Inactive town and players**** read please

  At 10pm central time on 4/5/2012 we as a server decided it was time to clean up shattered-serenity. All inactive players have been removed from the towny system. This means you have lost them as residents in your town. We will be doing this on a regular basis to keep the files cleaned up and encourage players to be more active. Please keep in mind they are not banned. This is in an effort to get our runaway towns back under control. Remember you must have 5 residents in your town or it will be deleted and i have a list of towns that do not meet the qualifications. We are asking that if you so choose to sell your town you do it to the server and i will be paying $10,000 gems for each town. If you decide to do this you must let your residents know so that they may find a new home. I really want our server to move forward and prosper. I am not selling claims until further notice either. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
